Why the coating is part of the story

Solid blackbutt laid on site is sanded and coated after it is down. This house used a water-based two-pack matt. Matt hides everyday scuffs more than gloss. Water-based polyurethane stays closer to the timber’s natural colour and has less smell than an oil-based coating, which ambers species such as blackbutt.
